We see the funeral as an opportunity for friends and families to give thanks for the life of someone at the end of their journey on earth and to commend them into God’s keeping. Our funeral services are lead by either our Vicar, Associate Vicar, Curate or retired Clergy who are members of Christ Church Bayston Hill, following the approved Church of England liturgy.
The funeral directors will normally contact the Vicar or Curate. The person taking the service will then visit the relative of the deceased to discuss the service.
We also offer Pastoral care for the bereaved both before and after the funeral service which is undertaken by our Pastoral team.
A funeral service marks the close of a human life on earth. We believe it is important to offer pastoral care for those who grieve the loss of a loved one. The Pastoral team will contact the bereaved 3 or 4 weeks following the funeral and give whatever pastoral care is needed.
We also invite all who we know have lost loved ones during the year to an annual quiet and reflective service, held on a Sunday afternoon in November, with resources available for further support. Many who have come to the service have appreciated the structure the Service and the opportunity to remember their loved ones together with others.
